is this music?

is this music? is a semi-regular publication with a varying page count that aims to try and put some of the giddy excitement of being a fan back into music. There are far too many sites out there that avoid talking about the actual music and associated phenomena in favour of coming across as little more than gushing fan tributes with oversized magazine scans and no words, reducing everything to the level of 'open drum breaks', or worst of all labouring under the misapprehension that everyone else will be sufficiently interested in what the writer had for tea last night to render proper discussion unneccessary. If, however, you've ever felt the thrill and exhiliaration of music as diverse as XTC, Blur, The Ramones, The Shadows, Shellyann Orphan, Super Furry Animals, Orbital, 13th Floor Elevators, Tim Buckley, Cathy Dennis and the theme tune from "Bob's Full House", then you've come to the right place.

is this music? is available free as an online download. You'll find the most recent issue on the current issues page, and a selection of previous issues on, erm, the previous issues page. The issues are in PDF format, and so require Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing, and also it will help to have the Bimini and Serpentine fonts installed as they're both used quite heavily in it.

is this music? welcomes all feedback and potential contributions; contact details can be found in each issue. If you would like to recieve updates on the arrival of new issues and lots of interesting bits and pieces (well, some interesting bits and pieces) besides, then please sign up to the announcement list.

is this music? is named after the final track on Teenage Fanclub's "Bandwagonesque", because it is a great piece of music.

is this music? appears at the start of every paragraph on this page.
