In
this age of celebration of supposed DIY-multimedia-production 'miracles',
the noble art of the humble compilation tape remains sadly uncelebrated.
A shame, as a carefully selected tracklisting and a well-crafted,
tongue-in-cheek cover can be more of an enlightenment to music fans
than any eight thousand page biography could ever hope to be. In an
attempt to redress the balance slightly, here are some notable examples
of the 'genre' that take full advantage of the opportunity to create
weird and wonderful juxtapositions of music. And if you click on the
covers, you can view the tracklistings in full.
